Unfortunately the "independence" part is what is breaking this country apart right now. We have such a huge number of immigrants from totally different cultures, and many (if not most) of them have a hard time grasping the collectivism at the same time as independence, and I can´t blame them since it is our politicians who has created this problem by not teach them about it as soon as they arrive. I have met many, many people from Northern Africa and even the middle-east that think healthcare, welfare, schools etc is just there, as if it magically just works. They have a hard time seeing the connection between taxes and all the things the taxes go to. Many of them have never had a real job so they have never paid taxes really. I also has been told by multiple somalians that in Somalia people think that when you go to Sweden you are going to get a home, a car, free food, free money and (seriously) a wife. The traffickers there is spreading these lies. Anyways, this is a problem that is getting bigger by the day and many are fed up already. It is going to become worse before it gets better,

About the coffee. I´ve worked with coffee for many years and it is true that Swedes drink more coffee than ALMOST any other country in the world. The fact is that there is one country that drinks even more, but just barely.. FINLAND! The statistics is based on how many cups a day average person drinks, and of course is the cup based on a set amount of beans. Finnish people drink 0,1 cup more on average. But if you hadn´t based the cups on the amount of beans but instead how much liquid, the Finnish people drink way more. Swedes like strong coffee, Finnish people weak. Now you know a totally useless fact. You are welcome! 😉

So Swedish government didn’t make recommendations. The independent public health authority did that. The pandemic was not about politics here, simply because we have a different system with independent departments that does their thing no matter whose In charge

In southern Sweden there's a similar thing. "Det reder sig!" Which sounds and is similar to "Þetta Reddast!" = "Things will work out". Might be because southern Sweden used to be part of Denmark for hundreds of years and you kinda had to have such an attitude when being in the periphery of Denmark and their good will.

The thing is, Americans have been "sold" the American Dream, which essentially means stepping on the heads of those below in order to climb the ladder of success to MORE MONEY! Totally absent in most of the rest of the world and certainly in Scandinavia.

Klassiska misstaget med surströmming är ju att man lär öppna burken under rinnande vatten eller om man är väldigt orolig för lukten kan man rakt av öppna den under lite vatten.

Hej Stefan and Kim Grate episode. As you (Stefan) mentioned about coming to the same level in English speaking when conversing to people who don't have English as first languish works well for me too. I'm a native Swede, with quite good spoken English, and when I goo abroad or have visitors at work with less good speak or expression i doo the same and it feels like it comforts for everybody. You don't really have to show off att these moments. So really smart i think?

I’m Canadian and servers bring the machine to the table. Only time I’ve ever had fraud on my credit card is when I had a connection through an American airport and used my card at a restaurant. Server took the card to the back and two weeks later I had $6k worth of fraudulent charges on my card.

Because we're not poor and deep in debt like many households are in a lot of other countries. There are many measurements of wealth. Swedish households are better off than most in this regard. However, neighboring Norway boosts a considerably higher GDP/capita. That being said, someone visiting both Norway and Sweden might not find the sheer material standard of living different in Norway compared to Sweden. Instead, Sweden might even seem richer.

When a country with 5% of the world population has 25% of the incarcerated population in the world, there must be something wrong. On top of that having far worse recidivism rates than any other country. Wonder which country I'm thinking of?

To a Scandinavian the American pride in the flag and country seems weird and desperate. As we all know your country's history... (You chucked out the Brits and their tea. Then tried to wipe the entire First Nations off the map. To replace them with enslaved Africans. Recently Mexicans). These days South American refugees are held "At gunpoint". While the wall grows higher.... XXX💥XXX💀XXX
